Hello, welcome to HEAL EQUINE LLC. My name is Courtney Cossette and I’m looking forward to journeying with you. I am here because of my professional and personal experience with animal connection being a catalyst to enrich peoples’ emotional, mental, physical and spiritual lives.
Animals have been a core piece of my life starting from birth. My parents always had dogs in the house, and I rode my first horse at 2 years old. I grew up with dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, guinea pigs, and chickens. I always experienced my time with animals to be a safe place, a place to reset.
I graduated college from NAU with an Education degree and began teaching 4th grade in 2017. After a few years as an educator I recognized my passion focused more on the emotional well-being of my students, so I made a career change and worked as a Behavioral Health care provider on an equine therapy ranch. Supporting clients of all ages and their families alongside horses, goats, pigs, and donkeys was where I got to see my love of humans and appreciation of animals meet.
It has been shown that within a short amount of time horses have the ability to assist people in regulating their nervous system. This results in the ability to communicate, set boundaries, practice empathy and compassion, and connect with oneself in a deeper way.
While working in behavioral health I had the privilege to become certified in the Community Resiliency Model (CRM) which consists of a set of skills created to empower communities and individuals through furthering their resiliency. These skills partnered with animals has shown to create tangible outcomes in my clients and students’ lives, as well as my own. I look forward to sharing these with you.
